Assessment

A report is written based on the results of the assessment in order to identify the child’s current skill level, behavior excesses and deficits. The report also includes individualized program recommendations and goals. Once the report is reviewed with the family and/or client, services can begin.
Functional Behavior Analysis/Assessments-Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) delineates the services to be provided. Through the FBA process, a hypothesis regarding the relationship among specific types of environmental events and behaviors is formulated. Reinforcement contingencies and interventions to be utilized are drawn from the FBA process, which also outlines necessary skill acquisition targets, as well as behavior reduction, targets to be addressed once services begin. Finally, the FBA process comprises a recommendation for behavioral services. It should be noted that the behavioral services recommended and provided varies across individuals.
Additionally, every child we assess has varying skills and is unique. The assessments do not identify individuals but help us to have an idea of their strengths and weaknesses along with parents’ interviews and of course direct observations. The first step in developing a program that concentrates on the specific needs of the child is assessing their current abilities and deficiencies. The assessment involves a combination of direct observation of the child, interviewing parents, and standardized measurements.
